THE SONG OF THE BODY

Years ago I read Awakening The Spine by Vanda Scaravelli
but it is only recently when I have read it again
that the book truly resonates with me.
Vanda Scaravelli was a daughter of artistic Italian parents, wife of
a professor of philosophy and an accomplished pianist - after her husband
died she began to practice yoga.
She said:
"A new life came to my body."

Vanda Scaravelli

This wonderful, inspirational lady practiced yoga daily until her
death at the age of 91.

In an extract from her book she writes:

"Movement is the song of the body.
This song if you care to listen to it, is beauty.  We could say that
it is a part of nature. We sing when we're happy and the
body goes with it likes waves in the sea."

"Practice transforms us.
A different life begins and the body expresses a happiness never
felt before.  These are not just words; it actually happens."

"I practice because it is natural for me to practice - there is no other reason."

When I read these words 10-years ago I'm not sure I believed them
now I also practice because it is natural for me to practice...
the joy of yoga fills my soul.

  5. Hello Catherine! I am happy you found my blog so I can enjoy yours, too:) Your post is truly inspirational and this wonderful woman reminds me of another lady, Maia Helles, a 95 year-old ballet dancer who hes been doing her exercise routine for over 60 years ( I wrote a post " Simple & Healthy" about her on my blog). Thank you for sharing!

  6. Totally agree with you on yoga, although I don´t practice it that often I must admit. And it´s so interesting how a book can resonate you totally a few years later, it must be about the self development. Love this post. Have wonderful weekend Catherine! xo Caroline
