A Style Guide by Ines de la Fressange

At last I have 'Parisian Chic' by Ines de la Fressange...
Waterstones had sold out and I went into nearly all of them!!!
And it had sold out on Amazon but it's here now...

Ines is so stylish, she always looks so effortlessly chic this
book is my new bible!

I thought I'd share some extracts from the book with you as I dip in and out of it,
starting with....

Timeless Beauty
(extract from Parisian Chic
A Style Guide by
Ines de la Fressange
with Sophie Gachet.
Published by Flammarion)

"My absolute role model is singer Julio Iglesias.
Asked if he was afraid of getting old, he replied
'But I'm already old...'  The Parisian is more
worried about wrinkles at 20 than she is at 50.

Frivolity is the key to eternal youth!

I pay no attention to wrinkles, I just stand back from the mirror!
I'll try Botox when I see a result I like... To date, it always looks
to me as if something has gone wrong.  The Parisian embraces
the advantages of age: she knows how to pack one suitcase
instead of four.  She lives for the present.
She listens.  She puts things in perspective.
But ageing doesn't mean letting yourself go.
These are my personal beauty tips."

For lifelong beauty:

* Be well groomed.

* Smell nice.

* Look after your teeth.
Have them professionallly cleaned every 6-months.

* Smile.

* Be indulgent.

* Be nonchalant and forget your age.

* Be cooler and more easy-going.

* Be less selfish.

* Be passionate about a man, a project, a house.
It's an instant facelift.

* Do only what suits you.
The perfect Zen attitude.

* Accept that there will be bad days.
And make the most of the good days!

Memo

"An hour sleeping or making love
is better than
a Botox injection at the dermatolgist's"

Ines de la Fressange is the epitome of class...exquisite

Tiffany & Co: Symbol of Style and Sophistication

Thursday, 19 May 2011

Tiffany & Co founded in 1837 in New York City
by Charles Lewis Tiffany is the world's most celebrated jeweller
with a reputation for sophisticated luxury.

The Tiffany store in Old Bond Street, London is fabulous
and in my mind better than the store in New York...
although I did dream I was Audrey Hepburn whilst we browsed...
but then, I don't have to be in Tiffany's in New York to dream I'm Audrey Hepburn...

Anyway, I love Tiffany's...my husband's gave me on our tenth wedding
anniversary the diamond tiffany cross...I wear it every day...
it's beautiful and I adore it.

The timeless Tiffany advertisements are iconic,
here are a few of my favourites...
the watercolour below is by Swedish artist and fashion illustrator
Mats Gustafson...exquisite.

Beautiful Natalie Portman, wearing Tiffany rubellite earrings
with rose cut diamonds...absolutely beautiful.

What girl wouldn't want to receive a little Tiffany Blue Box...
crowned with a white ribbon...

Burberry: The Classic Trench

Monday, 16 May 2011

Emma Watson for Burberry

The classic burberry trench is a favourite of mine and has been for decades!
You can wear it with anything, it is simple, chic and stylish...
you really can go anywhere in a trench...

Burberry is one of the oldest clothing stores in England.
Founded in 1856 when Thomas Burberry, a former draper's apprentice,
opened his store in Basingstoke, Hampshire.

Thomas Burberry
(1856-1899)

In 1914 Burberry was commissioned by the War Office to adapt the
Officer's coat to the conditions of warfare; worn by soldiers fighting in
the trenches the coat was named the
'trench coat'.
It was also worn by soldiers in the UK and America
during the Second World War.

The influence of Hollywood and its stars during the 1950s and 1960s
made the style hugely popular with the public...

Humphrey Bogart ~ Casablanca

Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard ~ Breakfast at Tiffanys

And today, it is still very much a favourite of the stars today...

Victoria Beckham

Jessica Alba, Gwyneth Paltrow and Camilla Belle

Alexa Chung

Take a look

@

http://artofthetrench.com/

It features a series of trench portraits by fashion and street style photographers...
they are creating a body of images reflecting personal style worldwide...
it's quite brilliant.

And lastly, lovely Kate... in Burberry's lightweight wool trench coat
with a flared hem...she wears it well...
